I haven't been to ballet for years and want to go again.
Why is it guys don't want to partner us there?
Every guy I have asked is "too busy" that night but they'll meet me afterwards.

bah.

Bullshit, ballet is a classical art and lots of modern dancers today get their start in ballet....as did the mofo electric guitar players get their start with classical guitar.

I'd like to see how long YOU can stay on your tippy toes.............One sec maybe??

I don't give a fuck if Jesus Christ got his start as the fucking Nutcracker .... Ballet is fucking lame x 10.

That would probably make me even less inclined to try it out. However its worth noting that having football players (American version anyway) take ballet has helped them with their flexibility and balance. Thus, the spectacular dodges and tackles you sometimes see.

They were wonderful!

It's such an art form.

I used to do Ballet, but I gave up because it hurrrrrrrts the tips of your toes!

Ballet is gay? Gay as in homosexual or gay as in effeminate? I'll leave the homophobic component of this alone except to say that in my experience, homophobic males have a tendency to be fearful of their own desire to, how shall I say this, suck dick. The father next door in American Beauty anyone?

Mikhail Baryshnikov (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Baryshnikov) gay? *buwhahahaha* Misha got more pussy than Purina. I should know. I'm one of his bastards.

Expressive interpretive dance in any form is fucking weak sauce, ballet included. It's boring, and presents to me as nothing more than pretentious fuckwits selling spastic playtime acted out by the retarded as "art."

However, given the opportunity, I'd gladly destroy the meat curtains of any heterosexual female ballerina...which I've heard are nearly impossible to come by.

You actually have to HATE something because it's boring?
Bit of a strong word there, don't you think?

No. I don't believe for one moment that he actually slept through the shows.
If he would man up, he'd admit he got something out of it, otherwise, ignorance was his friend those nights.

It's more of a lack of understanding.

I don't care much for Gospel, but I know those singers are putting their heart and soul into it.

I don't understand the German, Italian nor French in Opera, but I know that the human voice is the most beautiful instrument and they show complete control of their vocal cords.

I also know that in Ballet, as well as gymnastics and some forms of marshal arts, the practitioner shows total control of their bodies.

I also know there are a shit load of art works in the major museums and once I have an idea of the artist and their life, I understand it more and appreciate more.

Ignorance is no excuse for hate.

I'm just generalizing. Nothing directed towards you.

But do be careful, Josie must be entertained so go over your work a second time before entering, making sure she is entertained, because that is after all, why we are here.

I took ballet classes when I was around 7 years old. I didn't like it at all, so I quit for karate. But I do know some guys who have taken ballet, they are gay, though. I have never known a straight man who likes ballet. However, I hear football players take it.

Although ballet does have it's homoerotic elements, there are plenty of straight men involved with it.

What the HELL does it matter if they are gay or not.
Hell, half the stoner Rock n Rollers are Bi and full blown puffers....
Just as long as they keep putting out the entertainment, that's all that matters.............

I'm way too shallow to enjoy ballet.

Or, to put it another way, I don't have the ability to dig so deep within myself to find the ounce of pretentiousness that is required to sit and watch the shite while pretending to comprehend the interpretation.

Bollocks to that.

I think most are referring to the bore of classical ballet. It's monotonous with the same pastel colors rehashed again and again - I agree.

That said, I have been to really great ballets! There was one with a hispanic theme - there was a mariachi band, flower petals they threw into the audience, salsa worked into the mix. Loved it !

And another was put together of 3 different themes. One, classical - boring as all get out. One, 50's teeny bopper theme. Hilarious. And the last was an interpretation of lovers' emotions. The dancers all wore grey bodysuits, head to toe and it was very "primal" - I guess is how I would describe it.

The whole thing was great. Even with the classical ballet starting out.

I will say this - dressing properly for the occasion is mind-boggling. Too dressed up, ya look ridiculous... not enough, ya look ridiculous.

Ffs. Is it no longer permissible to make a comment after an absence?

Get the fuck over yourself knobrash.

I gave an opinion, and if it's welcome or not by you, if it's acceptable or not by you, if it's not even fully understood by you, then that's just fucking dandy.

You can fuck off now. Muah.
